The Man in the Moon

I don't usually write in free verse, but I love to read free verse; so I gave it a try, and hopefully it's something I improve at.

There are horrifying days which make me understand

The endless grimace of the man in the moon

Because, I think,

If you had to witness humanity's hideous reality

Through every grief-laden age of its existence

Wouldn't you also groan in infinite agony?

But there are other days

Beautiful ones

When the moon shines full

And my heart hopes
